The Artist

Painting and drawing bring me completely into the present moment: the more I play and immerse myself in the creative process, the braver I feel to venture out and experiment.  It's a cathartic, healing process.

Nature is my inspiration: landscapes, plants, the ocean... and every creature, big or small.  I find myself drawn to the untold stories and essence of a being reflected in its eyes. The beauty and simplicity of natural, changing light also fascinates me.  In the past, I've predominantly worked with charcoal, watercolour and ink but I've recently started experimenting with mixed media and the more traditional oil on canvas or board.  It has been such a joy discovering the depth in layers and vibrant colours that one is able to achieve when painting with oil.

Whilst I have no formal training per se, I have had the privilege of being tutored by the following South African artists: Michelle Kriek, Taryn Millar, Cyril Coetzee, Douw Van Heerden and Cathy Milner.
